"If I Can Help Somebody as I Pass Along, Then My Living Shall Not Be in Vain"
Bobbie Marshann Phillips, the daughter of Oscar Yerby and Susie Ann Phillips Johnson, was born on September 9, 1960, in Madison, Florida. She was blessed to have been nurtured by her village of concerned supporters which included her bonus father, Freddie Lee Johnson, Jr. She remained a lifelong resident of the community.
Bobbie had her unique way of reaching out to others. She was kindhearted and generous in sharing; she may have offered godly advice, a surprise treat, or an honest compliment. On the other hand, she was also prepared to give her opinion on beliefs that were dear to her heart or to defend those she loved. She was also known to chuckle here and there in these conversations.
Bobbie was one who never encountered strangers, for she considered them to be friends she had not met before. After a brief conversation, they discovered they had common interests after all.
Earlier in her life, Bobbie made a personal confession of her belief in Jesus Christ. She was baptized by faith and became a member of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Following her formal education in the Madison County School District, Bobbie began her lengthy career in employment. She worked at Gold Kist (Pilgrim's Pride) for 20 years, Tank and Tummy, Peacock's Nursery, and ended with O'Neal's Restaurant, and a private duty caregiver position. She also adored working with children and elderly individuals. Bobbie had initiative, a strong work ethic, and a good attitude in fulfilling her responsibilities. Each experience provided her with lasting memories and offered her life lessons that helped to shape her life.
Bobbie had pastime activities that she had a passion for, especially those that kept her outside .... growing vegetables, flowers and plants. An incredibly special treat for her was casting out her fishing line for the evening meal or catch of the day she sometimes offered to others.
Bobbie shared her cheerful spirit and her loving heart in her willingness to do as much as she could, for all that she could, and in any way that she could until the end of her life. On Friday, March 28, 2025, Bobbie Marshann Phillips heard the Lord whisper her name. Then in a moment and in the twinkling of an eye, she quietly transitioned from earthly labor to receive her heavenly reward. Well done good and faithful servant. Enter the joy of the Master!
Her legacy and fulfillment of purpose will continue through her family, friends, and countless lives Bobbie Marshann Phillips touched along her life journey. Those who will miss her until they meet again are her sons: Keith Phillips, Sr. of Madison, FL and Tharron Phillips of Jacksonville, FL; bonus father: Freddie Lee Johnson, Sr. of Madison, FL; brother: Larry (Alberta) Phillips of Jacksonville, FL; sisters: Margaret (Deacon Elijah) Davis and Angela (Pastor Rondy) Mathis all of Madison, FL; grandchildren: Alexia Phillips, Keith Phillips, Jr., Kei'Niya Phillips, Ta'Nya Phillips, Nigeria Phillips, and Thalia Phillips; bonus daughter: LaShawnda Francis of Madison, FL; client: Randy Messer of Madison, FL; dear friend: Harriet "Sue" Eady of Madison, FL; god sister: Amy Jonas of Orlando, FL; god daughter: Asia (James) Welch of Orlando, FL; along with many other sorrowing nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
