Obituary

I'm working on the building, it's the true foundation
I'm liftin' up a blood-stained banner for the Lord
Oh, I never get tired working on the building
I'm going to heaven to find reward" – Elvis Presley

Bobbie Gene Smit h was born to Mary Williams Smith and Dock Smith on September 18, 1945 in the Lovett community (Greenville) of Madison County, FL. He resided in the county his entire life. Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers: Freddie Smith and Johnny Smith; and son: Brian Eugene Smith.

Bobbie was loving, kind-hearted and willing to help whomever he could. Having grown up in a large family, he learned a work ethic, to be helpful, and to share. These qualities helped him to become a better person as a result.

During his career, he worked at Florida Plywood in Greenville, Dixie Packers in Madison, as well as the timber industry. Bobbie was accustomed to country living. For his enjoyment, he spent his time gardening fresh vegetables and being an outdoorsman.

Bobbie professed his belief in God and accepted Him as his Lord and Savior during the early years of his life. He became a member of Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church in the Lovett community. After its closure, Bobbie occasionally visited other churches.

Brother Bobbie closed his life journey on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, in Valdosta, GA. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

Cherishing his memories are his devoted wife of 37 years, Mamie Lee Mobley Smith; daughter: Keicha Mobley Gates of Valdosta, GA; siblings: Billie (Virginia) Smith, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL; Mary Smith, Rene Smith, and Vivian (Clarence) Bess, all of Tampa, FL; Annette (Robert) Johnson and Verdene Smith, all of Madison, FL; Aaron (Margo) Smith of Charlotte, NC; and Jimmy Smith, Sr. of Greenville, FL; aunts: Juanita Mincey and Ellen Roberts; sister-in-law: Geanetha Reed of Ft.
