Bridgette Michelle Siplin, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026. She was the cherished daughter of Joyce Tatum and the late Willie Siplin Sr. Affectionately known by many as “Big Bridge,” “Big Baby,” “Butch,” and “Slim,” Bridgette was loved deeply by all who knew her.
Bridgette was raised in Greenville, Florida, where she attended Madison County schools. She later continued her education through the Gainesville Job Corps, where she trained in carpentry. She was known for her strong spirit, her love of life, and her ability to bring joy to those around her.
She had a passion for sports and especially enjoyed playing basketball. Bridgette was also a devoted fan of the Florida Gators, cheering them on with pride.
Bridgette leaves behind a lasting legacy in the hearts of her family and loved ones. She is survived by her devoted mother: Joyce Tatum; her beloved daughter: Candice Siplin; grandchildren: Jazmine, Jamarcus Jr., and Jamarion Eckles; son-in-law: Jamarcus Eckles; sisters: Gwendolyn Lewis, Wanda Siplin, Tangalia (Howard) Avent, and Cassandra (Damon) Cobb; brothers: Willie Siplin Jr., Alphonso Tatum, Calvin Woodson, and Aaron Siplin; special nieces: Felisha (James) Johnson, Shanice Cuthbertson, and Latasha Collins; special nephews: Antonio Lewis, Vincent Young Jr., Antwan Young, Jirah Johnson and Jaylon Rucker.
She also shared a special bond with Katina Young (caretaker) and Latasha (Antione) Johnson, whom she loved as sisters. Her goddaughters Takara Thompkins, Kipena (Keith) Spearman, and Natalie Juett held a special place in her heart. Bridgette also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will cherish her memory forever.
She was preceded in death by her father: Willie Siplin Sr.; her stepfather: Robert Tatum; her grandparents: Aaron and Mary Siplin and Estelle Edwards; her niece: Jayla Ingram; her great-nephew: Jashaun Moody; and her life partner: Suddie Barnes.
Bridgette will be remembered for her strength, her love, and the impact she made on everyone she encountered. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
