SISTER CARLENA LAVERN JONES RICHARDSON brightened the lives of her parents, Carltis T. Johnson and Ruby Jones Barfield, when she entered the world on August 14, 1955. She continued bringing joy to others with her outgoing personality and love for them throughout her life. She resided in Madison, Florida.

Preceding Carlena in death were her father: Carltis T. Johnson and her son: Frederick Johnson.

Carlena accepted Christ as her Savior early in her life and joined the family of faith at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. When she relocated to Tallahassee, Florida, she then became a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Educated in the Madison County public school system, Carlena was a 1973 graduate of Madison High School. Afterwards, she began her employment career at Dixie Packers meat processing plant. That work experience helped her realize she could do something else to better her life. She then prepared herself to fulfill her passion for nursing and worked faithfully in \that profession. Her last employment of giving a helping hand and a willing heart was taking care of her beloved residents at Westminster Oaks Assisted Living facility in Tallahassee and Jacksonville.

Carlena loved her family and enjoyed the special times and memories they shared throughout the years. Having grown up as the big sister in a large family of siblings, she learned how to be responsible, caring, compassionate, and to always put others, especially her children, ahead of herself.

"Some glad morning, when this life is over, I'll fly away..." Sister Carlena Lavern Jones Richardson completed her earthly assignment and earned her heavenly wings on Thursday, August 10, 2023, four days before her 68th birthday. She relocated "to a home on God's celestial shore...." where her soul is resting in the presence of the Lord.

Loved ones who will cherish Sister Carlena Lavern Jones Richardson's memory and miss her until they meet again are her beloved and loving children: Marvin Jackson and Feleshia Latimer, both of Midland, TX; devoted mother: Ruby Jones Barfield of Madison, FL; supportive brothers: Derek (Sarah) Moore of Atlanta, GA, Desi Barfield, Reverend Albert Barfield, Norman Barfield, and Winfort (Tonya) Barfield, all of Madison, FL; faithful and compassionate sister: Audrey P. Barfield of Valdosta, GA; her forever special friends; along with many other loving relatives and sorrowing friends.
