Obituary

Chermon Deann Monson Lewis was the loving daughter born to Jimmy Lee Monson and Jacqueline Wright Toomer. She grew up in Albany, GA, and was a 2002 graduate of Doughtery High School. She later enrolled at Wiregrass Technical College, earning certification in childcare; however, seven years ago, she relocated to Madison, FL, to be close to other family members, to raise her children, and to establish new friendships.

Those who knew her best described Chermon as a kindhearted, fun-loving, and family-oriented "people-person." She had compassion for others and would help in any way she could. Her giving spirit caused her not to think twice about sharing her earnings to privately bless someone else who may have been in distress or needed a hand up.

On any given day, Chermon was the life of the party, for she could light up a room with her welcoming smile and her bubbly personality. Many people were drawn to her because the warmth of her smile indicated that she really cared. If anyone forgot to smile or was preoccupied, she insisted that they "Let me see that smile!" For her a meaningful smile could make a difference in your own outlook as well as that of someone else.

Chermon, also called "Ma Pooh," loved her extended family and would go the extra mile for them. Her children gave her much joy and she had her own special recipe of love for each one. They were her "Fantastic 4," but she insisted that Alaja would always be the "Period to her Pooh." She demonstrated the importance of family, for she loved spending quality time with them. She also enjoyed listening to music and dancing... She really loved Tik Tok.

Chermon's family believed that her passion for cooking was her God-given talent. On her job, she prepared many mouth- watering meals that caused many patrons to dine in often at the many restaurants (IHOP, Pizza Hut, Cracker Barrel) where she was employed. She earned the position as the master chef and manager at Denny's/ Smackin' Lips; however, her final place of employment was at Busy Bee, where she used her position as clerk to touch more lives directly with her sunny disposition.

Cherishing the special memories of her beautiful life are her children: McKever Lewis, Jr., Alaja Monson, Trudasia Lewis, and Myasia Lewis, all of Madison, FL; father: Jimmie Lee Monson of Madison; siblings: Octavious Singleton of Albany, GA, Jermaine Monson, and Tremaine (Saraia) Monson, all of Madison, FL, Tamara (Terrence) Thomas of Tampa, FL, and Lashonda Singleton of Ft. Walton, Beach, FL; godson: Vincent Lee III; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many other loving family members and sorrowful friends.
