"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me."~ Psalm 23:4
Clarence Mobley, who began his life journey on June 3, 1950, was the youngest child of Burton (B.J.) Mobley and Bernice Aikens Mobley. He and his three older siblings grew up on their family farm in the Cherry Lake community. As he grew older, Clarence, was affectionately called "BJ" by his peers, and the community embraced this nickname as well. He was a lifelong resident of this area.
Preceding Clarence in death were his parents; daughter: Jacqueline "Jackie" Mobley; and brother: David Mobley.
Clarence was quiet-natured and humble. He was also a man of faith. Earlier in life, he accepted Christ as his Savior and joined his family as members of (formerly named) Mt. Zion #2 A.M.E. Church.
Educated in the Madison County School District, Clarence was a 1968 graduate of Suwannee River High School (formerly named Madison County Training School) during the Vietnam War Era. Following his graduation, BJ was drafted into the United States Army to begin his tour of duty in Vietnam. As a result of this life altering experience, he merited military recognition for his honorable service by receiving two bars for the National Defense Service Medal, a Bronze Star Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a Vietnam Service Medal. He completed his military service in the U.S. Army Reserves.
During his years of employment, Clarence worked faithfully on several jobs but most notably, Dixie Packers and Greenville Hills Academy. He also was a welder at Saft Industries in Valdosta, Georgia.
BJ loved his family and shared an incredibly special bond with his daughters and his grandchildren. He loved the fun things they did together- playing games and driving but mostly, he created for them a lifetime of memories for these special times. Additionally, he poured into them life skills that would ensure success in their future endeavors.
Clarence was an active outdoorsman who loved seeing things grow. For this reason, he planted his garden of seasonal vegetables, flowers, and fruit trees. He was also a great fisherman because he knew the best spots to successfully fish for his catch of the day.
Clarence Mobley's life journey concluded early on Saturday morning, June 15, 2024, when he heard the Master whisper his name. It was then, in a moment and in the twinkling of an eye, he transitioned from his earthly labor to receive his heavenly reward.
The legacy and fulfillment of Clarence Mobley's life and love shall continue through his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched in his unique way. Those who will celebrate his earthly life and loving memories are his devoted wife of 47 years, Margie Straughter Mobley; his loving daughter: Tanzania "Tan" Mobley; sisters: Geanetha Reed and Mamie Lee Smith; sister-in-law: Christine Mobley; an aunt: Leatha Aikens; grandchildren: Jaivian Graham, Treyvon Graham, and Jeremy Williams; great-grandchildren: Tabias Graham, Summer Sage Graham, and Journey Williams; along with countless other sorrowing relatives, and loving neighbors and friends.
