The Life and Legacy of Cynethia Alison Roland Hill

Cynethia Alison Roland Hill was born on December 2, 1957, in Madison, Florida, to the late John Henry “Buddy” Roland and Emma Thompkins Roland. She lived a life rooted in faith, family, compassion, and quiet strength. Gentle by nature and generous in spirit, Cynethia possessed a warm heart that made others feel welcomed and loved. Whether through a home-cooked meal, a thoughtful conversation, or simply her calming presence, she had a special way of making life’s ordinary moments feel extraordinary.

At an early age, Cynethia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and began her Christian journey at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, faithfully attending Sunday School and worship services under the leadership of Reverend James C. Miller. As her faith journey continued, she later united with Genesis Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained steadfast in her love for God and commitment to Christian fellowship.

Cynethia received her formal education through the Madison County School System and proudly graduated with the Class of 1975. Believing that education opened the door to opportunity, she continued her academic pursuits by earning her Associate of Arts degree from North Florida Junior College before attending Florida A&M University, where she pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. Her passion for children led her to dedicate her career to early childhood education, where she lovingly nurtured, encouraged, and inspired countless young lives. More than an educator, she was a patient mentor whose kindness and gentle spirit left an enduring impression on every child entrusted to her care.

A woman of many talents and simple joys, Cynethia found happiness in caring for others. She was an exceptional cook and baker who delighted family and friends with delicious meals and homemade treats prepared with love. She possessed a remarkable green thumb and surrounded herself with beautiful plants and colorful flowers, finding peace and fulfillment in watching them flourish. Her love for decorating transformed every holiday into a special occasion, filling her home with warmth, beauty, and cherished traditions.

Cynethia also enjoyed shopping, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends, creating treasured memories everywhere she went. During quieter moments, she found comfort in watching classic television shows and timeless movies while enjoying one of her favorite pastimes—working word search puzzles. It was within these simple pleasures that her gentle heart and peaceful spirit were most evident.

On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the age of 68, Cynethia peacefully answered the Master’s call and entered into eternal rest. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, the love she shared, the lives she nurtured, and the beautiful memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Family was the center of Cynethia’s world. She was a devoted mother whose unconditional love, guidance, and unwavering support became the foundation upon which her children built their lives. She found immeasurable joy in her role as “Grandma,” cherishing every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren, affectionately known as “The C Family.” Her greatest accomplishments were not measured by titles or achievements, but by the love she poured into her family each and every day.

Cynethia was preceded in death by her loving parents, John Henry “Buddy” Roland and Emma Thompkins Roland.

Cherishing her precious memories are her beloved children, Cyneta Hill, Cymeia Hill, and Cory Hill, Sr. (LaToya); her treasured grandchildren, C’Koria Hill, Caliah Hill, Cory Hill, Jr., Coriuna Hill, and Coby Hill, affectionately known as “The C Family”; her big sister, Gwen T. Hubbard; her loving niece, Tresca Alexander; her precious great-niece, Amari Alexander; her beloved aunt, Julia T. Vereen; her cherished uncle, Charles Smith; together with a host of loving cousins, extended family members, dear friends, former students, and all whose lives were blessed by her kindness and love.

Cynethia’s life reminds us that the greatest legacies are cultivated not through wealth or recognition, but through love freely given, faith faithfully lived, and lives gently touched. Like the beautiful flowers she so dearly loved, her influence will continue to blossom in the hearts of her family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of grace, compassion, and unconditional love that will never fade.
