U.S. Marine Corps
Veteran Danny Bennett
May 10, 1957 – March 12, 2026

“First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of the United States Marine.”

United States Marine Corps Veteran Danny Bennett, a much-loved son of Geather Bennett, Jr. and Theola “Missy” Carter Bennett, was born on May 10, 1957, in Madison, Florida, and was raised with his siblings in the Cherry Lake community. It was there that he learned valuable life lessons - having a relationship with God, loving his family, respecting others, doing his best (in whatever he attempted), and having a reliable work ethic. He was always well respected because of his charismatic personality and his winning smile. While he resided in many other places during his adult life, he never lost sight of his humble beginnings and his love for family. He came home to visit them as often as possible.

Danny was educated in the Madison County School District – Hamburg Elementary, Madison County Training School, Madison Middle School, and finally, Madison High School where he was a proud 1975 graduate. Soon after graduation, he spent time with family in Miami as a short vacation before he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country with distinction and was honorably discharged after his tour of duty.

Danny lived in California (Twentynine Palms, Long Beach, and San Bernardino) for forty-four years. In addition to his being stationed there in the military, he was later employed in management positions at Circuit City and J.B. Hunt Trucking. After he retired in 2020, he and his wife decided to relocate to Doerun, Georgia.

Because he never forgot the advantages of small-town life with its fresh air and sunshine, Danny enjoyed hunting, but fishing was at the top of his list. As a matter of fact, his favorite fishing places were along the banks of the Colorado River in Yuma, Arizona. When he was at home, however, he loved bonding with his cats and dogs.

On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Danny Bennett peacefully transitioned from this earthly life. “Though his journey here has come to an end; his spirit remains a loving friend. In Heaven’s waters he now does play, catching fish on a brighter day.”

“Remember him smiling with sun on his face, Danny Bennett’s fishing in Paradise in a sacred place.” Cherishing his life, love, and legacy are his beloved wife, Cynthia Adams Bennett of Doerun, GA; children: Danny Bennett, Jr. of Long Beach, CA, Miesha Bennett of Rhode Island, Ryan (Ana) Adams of California, and Danielle Adams of Highland, CA; an awesome grandson: Weston; siblings: Louis (Van) Carter of Deltona, FL, Geather Jerry Bennett of Valdosta, GA, Carolyn (Willie) Richardson of Albany, GA, (as close as a twin) Stanley (Virginia) Bennett of Tallahassee, FL, Peggy Bennett of Gardena, CA, Ricky (Ulanda) Bennett of Highland, CA, and Cheryl Bennett of Cherry Lake (Madison), FL; aunts: Maggie Davis of San Antonio, TX and Willie Thea Donnell of Miami, FL; and an uncle: Gene Bennett; along with many other sorrowing relatives, uplifting friends, comforting lifelong classmates, and consoling neighbors. “Rest in peace, Danny; may your heart be free. You’ll be fishing in Heaven…. Joyful and carefree.”

Preceding Danny Bennett in death were his parents: Geather Bennett, Jr. and Theola Bennett, along with his siblings, Rufus Bennett and Gloria Bennett.
