Deacon Lorinzo Blue
March 20, 1956 - August 17, 2025
"Blue Boy"

Deacon Lorinzo Blue, the beloved son of Archie Blue, Jr. and Mary Louise Sutton Blue, was born on March 20, 1956, in Monticello, Florida, but he grew up in the Sirmans Community of Greenville, Florida. However, his parents allowed him to be raised in the loving home of his Great Uncle Archie Blue, Sr. and Great Aunt Deanna Blue. They, together with his village, instilled in him a foundation that shaped his character and guided the course of his life. They taught him core principles of morals, values, and respect. They stressed the importance of loving and keeping God first in his life, as well as having a strong work ethic. Lorinzo was a lifelong resident of this Madison County community.

Affectionately known by many as "Blue Boy," Lorinzo was a people person who treated everyone as friends. His basic rule was, "If you want to have a friend, you must first be a friend." He impressed those he met with his friendliness, kindness, and generosity. However, his willingness to lend a hand to others and his sense of community was extended to all.

Deacon Blue was committed to his faith and was a devoted church member who demonstrated his leadership potential. He was initially chosen and ordained a deacon at Wigginsville Baptist Church and continued in that role when he transferred his membership to Sweet Home Baptist Church in Perry, Florida.

Additionally, he was the manager of the Wiggingsville Cemetery, a position that required him to have knowledge of family plots and to be responsible for the upkeep of the property.

For 39 years, Deacon Blue was employed at "The Mill" (previously named Proctor & Gamble/ Buckeye Cellulose/ Georgia Pacific) in Perry, Florida. He concluded his career as an effective team supervisor in the finishing department.

In addition to his dedication to other aspects of his life, Deacon Blue always created time for personal interests. He loved the thrill of riding his Sling Shot. He also enjoyed cooking and was overjoyed when others appreciated his effort. Deacon Blue became the respected Coach Blue when he coached football, especially for the Madison County High School Cowboys and the Taylor County War Eagles Youth League. He was also an avid fan of the Florida State University Seminoles football.

Deacon Lorinzo Blue was stronger by faith and wiser by experience. He left a lasting impression and forever love for his family and friends. Deacon Lorinzo Blue heard the Master whisper his name on Sunday, August 17, 2025. He obediently departed this earthly life, transitioned to his eternal home, and found everlasting rest beyond the River.

Deacon Lorinzo Blue was a selfless son, loving husband, supportive father, fun-loving grandfather, wise nephew, thoughtful brother, and trusted friend. His unwavering kindness, quiet strength, and loving spirit deeply touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Loved ones who will miss him until they meet again are his mother: Mary Lousie Sutton Blue; devoted wife of 39 years: Lesia R. McGrew Blue; sons: William (Tra'Jae) Blue, Michael Blue, and Dr. Brandon (Brittany) Blue, Antione Blue and "Broderick"; daughters: Teralissa Sullivan, Symia Chaney, Na'Casey Freeman, Avianna Hamilton, and Ashley Atkins; sisters: Tina Louise Blue and Christie Brinson; brothers: Rudolfo Prieto and Neal Cruce; sisters-in-love: Debra McGrew, Elaine (Leon) Whetsel, Tammy (Audie) Pridgeon, Tekeema (Clarence) Graham; brothers-in-love: John (Chiquita) McGrew, Jr. and Jonathan (Andrenna) McGrew, Sr.; special aunts: Earline Tuff, Derutha Blue, Diane Daniels, and Mollie Myers; special uncle: Joe Daniels; special cousins: Joan Blue, Patrisha Blue, Gloria Van Alstyne, and William Van Alstyne; sixteen grandchildren and (his main man, Mason); five great-grandchildren; together with many other sorrowing relatives, loving friends, and comforting church family.

Loved ones who preceded Deacon Lorinzo Blue in death were his father: Archie Blue, Jr.; son: Broderick Blue; sister: Diann Blue; and godson: Geno Hayes.
