IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Deaconess Lola
Richardson McGhee
October 14, 1934 – January 12, 2026
“His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
-Matthew 25:21 (KJV)
Deaconess Lola Richardson McGhee, the beloved daughter of Charlie Richardson and Rosa Lee Frazier, was born on October 14, 1934, in Madison, Florida. She grew up in the Plant Sub Community of Madison County, Florida. She was a lifelong resident there.
Earlier in her life, Deaconess McGhee accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Pineland Missionary Baptist Church. She faithfully and diligently served as the church secretary, Easter program coordinator, and a member of the church’s culinary staff. She also assisted in any other capacity where she was needed.
Deaconess McGhee was educated at Madison County Training School and was a graduate in the class of 1953. Afterwards, she worked for a few local families until she married Samuel McGhee. They lived in Holy Matrimony for nearly 70 years and were the proud parents of six children.
Deaconess McGhee’s life was a testament to her faith and her commitment to serving others. She was one who chose to make a difference in whatever way possible. If she could help somebody in some purposeful way, then her living would not be in vain. She was, at one time, the beautician in the Plant Sub Community. Additionally, she volunteered to ring the bell to collect donations during the Yuletide season for Salvation Army, raised funds for Madison County’s Relay for Life, and volunteered to assist with the Literacy Program. She also served locally with the Madison County Recreation Association and Madison County Ministers, Deacons, and Laymen’s Training Union. During election season, she worked for the Supervisor of Elections as a poll worker. She was a supportive 4-H Parent Leader and a Madison High School Band Mom. Most rewarding to her was being the caregiver for several elderly ladies in the county. In all things, she was committed in oOering her unwavering service for the glory of God.
Deaconess McGhee was active and vibrant. In addition to her service to mankind and other responsibilities, she was an avid bowler and a member of the Valdosta Bowling League. To her credit, she was proud of all the trophies and other awards that she won over the years.
Deaconess Lola Richardson McGhee had blessed peace with her Lord so near. Therefore, on Monday, January 12, 2026, she willingly answered the Master’s call and peacefully slept away only to be welcomed into the arms of the Father. Well done, good and faithful servant!
The imprints of Deaconess Lola Richardson McGhee’s life are etched in the hearts of many loved ones. Her legacy of love, dedication, service, and excellence will continue to be inspirational and cherished for generations to come.
