Deaconess Claudette Virgina Tomlin-Miller
December 15, 1960 – December 11, 2023
"If I could spread my love, the world would be a better place." ~ Deaconess Claudette Virgina Tomlin-Miller

Deaconess Claudette Virgina Tomlin-Miller, the baby daughter of Malcolm Tomlin and Lorraine G. Tomlin, was born on December 15, 1960, in Homestead, Florida. As the years passed, they recognized that she was destined to make a difference in the lives of others. She was a resident of Madison, Florida.

Relatives who preceded her in death were both caring parents; a loving and devoted son, Tony Brown; her beautiful daughter, Brittanie Loyd; and her devoted sister, Dorothy Tomlin.

The spiritual journey of Deaconess Miller began when she gave her life to Christ at an early age. From 1991-1994, she became a faithful member under the leadership of (the late) Bishop Lenwood Cooper in Miami, Florida, until she relocated to Greenville, Florida. Then from 1996-2000, she was a faithful member and usher under the leadership of (the late) Pastor Ronald Brown at White Stone Church in Perry, Florida. In 2001, she and her children became dedicated members of Life Changers Church of God in Christ in Tallahassee, Florida. Because of her faithfulness and demonstration of her love for the Lord and while she was under the spiritual leadership of Elders Gerald and Judy Mandrell, she was elevated to the position of "Mother". However, in November 2016, she was divinely led to join New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Madison, Florida, with Pastor Alfred A. Colson as her spiritual leader.

Acknowledging her faithfulness in serving, one pastor stated, "if he had just ten members like her, he could raise a village." And another likened her to prayer warriors that could light a spiritual fire in any congregation.

Deaconess Miller kept God first in her life, but her heart was big enough to always place her family ahead of herself, by loving them unconditionally and generously demonstrating her sacrifices of love. She constantly participated in family get togethers because she wanted them to know how important it is for families to dwell together in unity and love.

Deaconess Miller was soft-spoken yet steadfast. She believed that love could heal all wounds if your faith and trust is in God, and you have forgiveness in your heart. Her daily prayer was always, "Allow me to be a part of this world but not of this world". Her spiritual walk instilled in her the true values of life – integrity, truthfulness, morals, love, respect, and forgiveness. Equally important is being peace makers.

Deaconess Miller exceled in high school, college, and places of employment. Shortly after graduating from South Dade High School at the age of 17, she enrolled at South Dade Community College to earn a certification in nursing. For the next 15 years, she tirelessly held two jobs (as a nurse for the State of Florida and as a cook) to provide for her family. She later pursued her interest in learning how to draw blood by returning to school and earning certification in Phlebotomy in 2009.

After 30 years of nursing and working a variety of jobs, Deaconess Miller was recognized with several accolades of appreciation at her retirement from the State of Florida. For several years after her retirement, she had the opportunity to become a volunteer for patients at both Interim and American Home Patient. Then from 2015 through November 2023, she expanded her nurturing wings to become a foster grandparent for the North Florida Child Development Agency. She was awarded more accolades for her hard work and her ability to interact with children. "If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain".

The joy of the Lord was her strength, and her soul was anchored in Him. Therefore, on Monday, December 11, 2023, when He called her name, Deaconess Claudette Virgina Tomlin-Miller joyfully answered so that she could join the great cloud of witnesses.

Someone so very special can never be forgotten, for her legacy and fulfillment of purpose shall continue through her family, friends, and the countless lives she has touched. Deaconess Claudette Virgina Tomlin Miller leaves to cherish her precious memories her devoted husband: Paul Miller, Jr.; loving sons: James E. Loyd, Jr. and Christopher (Ashley) Loyd; sisters: Shirley Smith, Della McCray, and Juanita Palmer; brothers: Bobby (Pat) Tomlin and Thomas (Charlene) Tomlin; grandchildren: Maricyani J. Williams Brown, Anijha Brown, A-mira Loyd and Christopher Loyd, Jr., Lyric Loyd; brothers-in-law, Larry Hines and Pastor Randall Hines, Sr.; sister-in-law, Casandra Hines; a special friend: Bernice Williams; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the New Mt. Zion M.B. Church family.
