Obituary

Deloris Alexander Turner
August 17, 1957 -September 2, 2021
I lift my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from? My help
comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2

Deloris Alexander Turner, of Madison, began her life story as the daughter born to Ulysses Alexander and Bertha Mae Ivory Alexander. They, as well as her sisters: Lucile Thompson (Kurmitt); Margie Bellamy, and Josephine McCray, all preceded her in death.

Having grown up in a home that was Christ- centered, Deloris' love for Christ was further reinforced at New Antioch A.M.E. Church, for this is the place that she also accepted Him as her Lord and Savior. The love she had for Him reflected in her daily life and especially in the way she interacted with others.

Deloris loved and enjoyed special times with family. She had her own unique way of brightening up a room or an occasion with her joking and other antics that caused everyone to temporarily forget about troubles and enjoy the moment. Her warmth and friendliness also attracted other individuals (of all ages) to love being around her. Although she had no children of her own, she loved the neighborhood children and they loved her. Her village mom gesture of love, sometimes tough love and concern for them and was received throughout the community with genuine respect.

Shortly after her Madison High School graduation in 1976, she entered the work force. She was employed for nearly 20 years at Gold Kist poultry plant before changing her career to working nearly 20 years as a housekeeper at the Lake Park Nursing Home. At both facilities, she made an impact and left her influence on those she encountered.

To have known Deloris, one knew how much she loved listening to gospel music as her form of relaxation and enjoyment and to encourage herself.

Death is the last chapter in time but the first chapter in eternity. Deloris completed her final chapter of her earthly experience on Thursday, September 2, 2021, only to begin her forever chapters in eternity.

Forever cherishing the memories of her love are her brothers: L.C. (Annie) Alexander of Miami, FL, Clarence Alexander, Jerry Alexander, and Thomas (Priscilla) Alexander, all of Madison, FL; sisters: Geraldine Alexander and May Linda Alexander, both of Madison, FL; goddaughter: Charvon Monlyn of Dallas, TX; best friend: Angela Bell, of Madison; a host of generations of nieces and nephews, with whom she had a hand in raising; along with a host of loving relatives and many other sorrowing friends.
