Obituary

Kelvin Donald Marcelli, PhD.
June 20, 1965 – March 16, 2026

Kelvin Donald Marcelli, PhD., the cherished son of Valencia Marcelli, was born on June 20, 1965, in St. Thomas, the United States Virgin Islands. Living there during his early years contributed to his development as a knowledgeable, wise, and determined individual. He and his family were influential residents of the Tallahassee, Florida community for more than twenty years.

Kelvin was a 1983 graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School. He later pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of the Virgin Islands – St. Thomas Campus, earning his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychology. Subsequently, he relocated to Tennessee to matriculate at Tennessee State University in Nashville to obtain his Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Psychology. Finally, with faith, determination, and encouragement that he could also achieve the next level, he was admitted into the doctoral program at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville to earn his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) degree in Psychology. Because he did things in a more excellent way, each academic level marked defining moments in his life. During his career, he served with distinction at the Federal Bureau of Prisons and made notable contributions to the field of psychology. He retired from the Bureau in 2022; however, in 2023, he established another career at Tallahassee State College. He enjoyed counselling the students, and they appreciated the guidance and mentorship he provided.

Other treasured moments in Kelvin’s life included his marriage on September 6, 1991, to his loving and supportive wife, Diane, and being a great father of his beloved daughters Keleisha, Kristalia, and Valencia Danielle. He cherished every moment he spent watching them grow into exceptional women. Guided by his support, each achieved her own milestones in education and careers.

Outside his career, Kelvin had many interests that immensely enriched his life. He was passionate about karate, gardening, and basketball because he valued the discipline and the physical challenges they provided. Most of all, he enjoyed the solace he found in gardening and the satisfaction that nurturing and cultivating plants provided.

Kelvin Donald Marcelli’s presence was a gift that impacted others in meaningful ways. His absence, on the other hand, leaves a void that can never truly be filled. On Monday, March 16, 2026, he peacefully transitioned from this life. Now he can rest from his labor; he has earned his eternal rest.

Kelvin Donald Marcelli’s life will be remembered for the joyful memories fostered by the meaningful treasured times he created with his laughter and shared experiences with his family and friends. Loved ones who have a special place in their hearts for him are his devoted wife of more than 35 years, Diane Marcelli; his beloved daughters, Keleisha Marcelli, Kristalia Marcelli, and Valencia Danielle Marcelli; his amazing grandchildren, Kyiara, Dimitri, and Jordani; his aunt, Blanche Creque; along with sorrowing cousins, many other bereaved relatives, and comforting friends.

Kelvin Donald Marcelli was preceded in death by his mother, Valencia Marcelli; his grandparents, Alfredo Marcelli and Maria Christalia Marcelli, and his brother, Wayne Nicholsen.
