"HUTT"
Enlistment: June 25, 1975 • Honorable Discharge: February 3, 2021
"And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest." -Psalm 55:6
Eddie John Johnson, Jr., better known as "Hutt" was the loving and very special son born to Ola Thompson and Eddie John Johnson, Sr. He spent most of his life among family and friends in Madison, Florida.
Eddie was a bright young man who loved to be challenged academically. While most of his education was obtained at Madison Primary School, Madison Middle School, and Madison County High School, he spent his final year at Amos P. Godby High School in Tallahassee. Hard work in High School earned him membership in National Honor Society, Beta Club, and JROTC. Eddie graduated with high honors in the class of 1994.
He later completed coursework towards his Associate of Arts degree at North Florida Community College and earned certification in culinary arts from Lively Technical School. Eddie was not a big talker, but rather a deep thinker. He had a passion for the mechanical workings of technological devices. This was evident when he challenged himself to successfully build an engine overnight. From that experience, he knew his ultimate goal was to become a mechanical engineer.
Not only was Eddie skilled in mechanics, he was also deeply interested in cooking. He had a unique talent for baking. His specialty was desserts, especially his scrumptiously delicious cheesecake and brownies. He also created his delectable bar-b-que sauce that can never be duplicated.
Eddie had a brief enlistment period in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged from his duty with the rank of Private Second Class.
He had a close relationship with the Lord, and he found favor in being his servant. As a member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, Eddie was honored to have been in training for the position as deacon. However, he was unable to be ordained because his health failed.
The Lord had a greater plan for Eddie's life. He was allowed to exchange time for eternity when he gained the wings of a morning dove, and flew away to be at rest on Wednesday, February 3, 2021.
Forever in the hearts of his loved ones to cherish his memory are the love of his life, his mother: Ola Thompson Young; Father: Eddie John (Deahtra) Johnson, Sr.; step-father: Vincent Young, Sr.; siblings: Rodderick Johnson, Sr., Antonio Johnson, Sr., D'John Johnson, Vincent Young, Jr., Antwan Young, Gregory Lewis, Latonya (Gary) McIntosh, and Angela (Isaac) Haynes; devoted cousin: Annie Ree Williams; devoted niece: Lisa Young; nephew raised as a son: Eddrick Williams; devoted nephew: Bobby (Iman) Williams; special friends: Darlene (Thomas) Jones, Chaun Franklin, Edward (Sheila) Thompkins, Lamar (Tanya) Wilson, Chuck (Brittany) Arnold, Annette Arnold, and Charles (Mary) Houston; godson: Joey Joseph, Jr; and many other sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
