ELDER BRENDA GENISE WOODY
APRIL 10, 1963 – MARCH 21, 2026
ELDER BRENDA GENISE WOODY, affectionately known by her family as “Patty Cake,” was born to Gertrude Clark and Leroy Woody on April 10, 1963, in Monticello, Florida. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, who left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her. Her loving spirit and caring nature made her the heart of her family and community.
Earlier in her life, BRENDA professed her belief in Christ at St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church of Miccosukee, Florida. As her faith grew, BRENDA became a faithful member at Life Deliverance Ministries (LDM) under the leadership of Bishop Lorenzo Watkins III and Co-Pastor Phyllis Watkins. There, she served as an ordained elder, teacher, leader of Member Care Services and numerous other profound roles for 30 years. She consistently demonstrated her deep faith and commitment to God, His people, and her church. BRENDA loved people and held a special place for her LDM church family. “The joy of the Lord was her strength.”
BRENDA was a dedicated educator who spent many rewarding years in early childhood education and childcare. She was also a retiree of Tallahassee Memorial Hospital (TMH) Daycare, where her passion for teaching and nurturing young minds shone brightly. At the time of her retirement, BRENDA’S devotion to her students and their families spanned over 40 years. God got the glory for everything He enabled her to do.
In addition to her professional and personal accomplishments, BRENDA was known for her delightful baking, particularly her prized pound cake, which brought joy to countless gatherings. She was also a passionate fan of the Florida Gators and proudly cheered them on with unwavering enthusiasm.
ELDER BRENDA GENISE WOODYwas steadfast in her faith as she entered eternal rest on March 21, 2026. “Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say…It is well…it is well with my soul.”
ELDER BRENDA GENISE WOODY treasured her family above all else. Her legacy and fulfillment of purpose will continue through every life she impacted. She is survived by her loving sisters: Helen (Curtis) Pye, Allison Frazier, LaToya Williams, and Monica Williams; caring brothers: Jeffrey Clark, and Alton Woody; eleven cherished nieces and nephews: Maurice Pye (Tykeela), Crystal Pye, Kia Frazier, AJ Frazier, Akeem Frazier, Zaniya Williams, Janaria Shannon, Zachary Williams, TJ Cobb, Dior Bryant, DJ Bryant; precious great-niece and great-nephew: Mariah Pye and MJ Pye; godchildren Tony Hawkins and Zyaire Brooks; along with a host of other loving relatives, sorrowing friends, uplifting church friends, and comforting former coworkers.
Preceding ELDER WOODY in death were her mother, Gertrude Clark and her father, Leroy Woody.
