"EJ" I "Eazy"
"Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal."
Ezell Alexander Stephens, the beloved son of Angelia Hicks Akins and Ezell Stephens, was born on February 4, 1984. Members of his family affectionately called him "EJ" whereas his close friends from high school called him "Eazy". He was a lifelong resident of Madison, Florida.
Preceding EJ in death were his brother: Benjiman Straughter and his grandfather: David Hicks, Jr.
Ezell made a point of showing his love for his family daily. He enjoyed the special times they shared and was very protective of them. EJ was most dependable and was willing to go the extra mile for them at any time.
"Eazy" was upbeat, smart, fun loving and friendly. His welcoming smile was the indication that he could get along with others and could relate to them. Not only did he treat everyone with respect and Christlike compassion, but he also engaged them in conversations of common interests, even if they were persons he was just getting to know. For EJ, the best way to have a friend was to be one.
Because he learned early in life the importance of having a work ethic, Ezell gave his best effort for the position he held at Pilgrim's Pride, Klausner Lumber Sawmill, and Stahl Meyer Food, Inc.
Just as much as he loved to work, he also looked forward to his time away from the job. At the end of the day, he relaxed by playing games on his phone. During football season, "Eazy" was the ultimate University of Florida Gator fan, but he also displayed his UF spirit throughout the year.
Ezell loved being in the fresh air and sunshine, and for this reason, he always found something constructive to do. One of his favorites was developing his passion for grilling to perfection. By mastering this goal, he earned the family honor as "Grill Master".
After several exhausting months in recovery, Ezell Alexander Stephens "let go to let God have His way", and quietly departed this earthly life. EJ transitioned to his eternal home to live with the Lord on April 24, 2023. A precious link in the family chain was broken.
It's hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember. Holding on to these precious memories and cherishing Ezell Alexander Stephens' love, life, laughter, and legacy are his parents: Angelia Hicks Akins of Madison, FL and Ezell Stephens of Jacksonville, FL; daughter: Emoni Alexandra Stephens of Madison, FL; companion: Shamate Walker of Madison, FL; maternal grandmother: Letha Hicks of Madison, FL; brother: Damian Frazier of Madison, FL; sisters: Sheronda Stephens of Madison, FL and Veronica Brinson of Tallahassee, FL; aunts: Debra Turner and Wanda Hicks, both of Madison; uncle: David Hicks III of Madison, FL; and his favorite cousin: Alicia Solomon of Madison, FL; god-daughter: Brianna Petty of Madison, FL; along with a host of other sorrowing relatives and compassionate friends.
