George Lamar Andrews
"Mr. G"
1946-2023
"If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain."
George Lamar Andrews, son of Troy Lamar Andrews and Katheryn Elizabeth Cannon, was born in College Park (Atlanta Area), Georgia, on November 29, 1946. Although he resided in this area most of his life, he eventually relocated to Tallahassee, Florida, and lived there for many years. However, to be close to his daughter, he moved to Madison, Florida, which was his final residence. George was affectionately known as "Mr. G".
Both of Mr. G's parents preceded him in death.
Mr. G opened his spiritual heart many years ago and accepted Christ as his Redeemer. As a result of that life -changing experience, he became a member of Innovation Baptist Church.
Because of his desire to defend and protect his country, George enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was discharged honorably at the end of his tour of duty. Mr. G was also protective of his loved ones as well as other aspects of his life.
The Lord blessed Mr. G with unique gifts to positively influence others. He was content with life and never complained because "God granted him the serenity to accept the things he could not change, courage to change the things he could, and the wisdom to know the difference". He was a quiet man and a quiet storm, yet he was also compassionate and concerned for others. He patiently listened to them and imparted godly wisdom in the advice he gave.
George greeted each day with a boldness of faith and enthusiasm in focusing on the positives of life. He loved music and shared his seemingly endless playlist of songs he learned over the years. He also looked forward to his seafood meals, especially when hot fish and shrimp were served.
Because his soul was anchored in faith, George Lamar Andrews / "Mr. G" held on to God's unchanging hand. He stood on the promises of Jesus and earned his heavenly wings on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.
The legacy of George Lamar Andrews' life, love, and wisdom will forever be embedded in the hearts of his daughter: Margaret (Michael) Gibson of Madison, FL; special family: Rickey Beasley and Albert Darnell Collins, both of Atlanta, GA, and Erika L. Collins of Tallahassee, FL; special caregiver/friend: Leonard Collins of Quincy, FL; special friends: Leroy Gibson of Madison, FL and Calandra Gibson of Jacksonville, FL; the residents and staff of Angels With a Divine Purpose of Madison, Florida; along with many other sorrowing friends.
