IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Howard Miller,
Sr.
August 25, 1953 – May 21, 2022
Brother Howard Miller, Sr.
1953 –2022
"Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God; believe also in me." -John 14:1
The life chapter of Howard Miller, Sr. began with his parents, Ezell Miller, Sr. and Millie B. Jackson Miller, on August 25, 1953. They reared him in the Sirmans community of Greenville, Florida, where he resided most of his life. Howard was preceded in death by both parents; son: Brent Miller; daughter: Myriall Hampton; sisters: Lucretia Miller and Bertha Lee Wright; brothers: Ezell Miller, Jr., Tommy Miller, and Jerry Miller.
During his early years, Howard received two valuable lessons that prepared him for a successful life. First, he accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ in his heart. He activated his faith and became a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Most of his formal education was received at Greenville Training School; however, he graduated from Greenville High School in 1972.
Howard loved his family and was a good provider. He spent many years of his logging career working for Jeffrey Bolden and Jim Seago. He was a hard worker who constantly challenged himself to learn new concepts. As a result, Howard was well-rounded, a jack- of-all-trades who used his culinary skills to prepare everything from mouth-watering turkey and dressing, to using his gardening green thumb for growing an abundance of fresh produce—okra, squash, cucumbers, watermelons, sugar cane, and for using his special techniques in growing pecan trees, plum trees, and grapevines to be very productive. Howard was also good at repairing water pumps and septic tanks, which was especially handy during emergencies.
However, as much as he enjoyed working, Howard broke away from his busy schedule to relax. He enjoyed watching The Andy Griffith Show and his favorite westerns: Bonanza, Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, and The Big Valley. He also loved football, especially his Florida Gators.
On Saturday, May 21, 2022, Howard Miller, Sr. closed his final chapter by quietly transitioning from his labor to eternal rest with the Lord. He will forever be remembered for the everlasting love that he shared and countless lives that he touched.
Cherishing Howard Miller, Sr.'s precious memories are his loving and devoted wife of nearly 35 years: Shuwanda Williams Miller; sons: Fernando Hampton, Brandon Williams, Howard "Pooh" Miller, and Howard (Latisha) Miller; daughter: Jedeana Miller; sisters: Fannie Joyce Conley, Mae Helen Miller, Earlean Miller Bozeman, Vivian Miller; brother: Chris (Patricia) Miller; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces raised as daughters: Taceria (Quinton) Clemons, Shankayia Williams, Dorothy Davis; godchildren: Shauntavia Livingston, Felicia Edwards, Beatrice Gallon, Lisa Fead Thomas, Kathleen Butler, Shanice Cuthberson, Relonda Williams, Reshonda Williams, Charston Hamilton, Ashley Hampton, and Christ Crumity; together with many other sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
