Deaconess Jeroldine Bradham McGee
April 26, 1942 - July 24, 2026

There are some lives that are remembered not because of wealth or recognition, but because of the love they freely gave, the faith they faithfully lived, and the countless lives they quietly transformed. Such was the beautiful life of Deaconess Jeroldine Bradham McGee—a devoted woman of God, compassionate caregiver, loving mother, cherished grandmother, faithful friend, and servant whose legacy will forever remain etched upon the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Born on April 26, 1942, in the close-knit community of Sopchoppy, Florida, Jeroldine was the beloved daughter of the late Tom Johnson, Sr. and Ollie Lou Bradham Johnson. She was raised with an unwavering appreciation for faith, family, honesty, hard work, and service to others. Those values became the cornerstone of a life marked by grace, resilience, and unconditional love.

Jeroldine possessed a heart naturally drawn toward caring for others. That calling led her into healthcare, where she began her career at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital's Extended Care Unit. Recognizing the importance of excellence in her profession, she attended Lively Vocational Technical School, where she earned her State of Florida certification as a Nursing Assistant. Throughout the years, she became widely respected for her gentle spirit, unwavering professionalism, and exceptional compassion.

Her reputation for excellence opened the door for her to privately care for several distinguished members of the Tallahassee community, including former Florida Governor Leroy Collins and William "Bill" McNeil, founder of Bill's Bookstore. Yet regardless of title, position, or prominence, Jeroldine believed every person deserved dignity, kindness, and compassionate care. To her, caregiving was never simply a profession—it was a ministry of love.

Her greatest devotion, however, was reserved for her Lord and Savior. As a faithful member of Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jeroldine joyfully served in numerous capacities throughout the years. She faithfully worked on the Finance Committee, taught Sabbath School, and humbly served as a Deaconess, ministering to her church family with quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and Christ-like compassion.

The Holy Scriptures were her daily source of encouragement, wisdom, and peace. She delighted in reading her Bible and Christian devotional literature, allowing God's Word to shape every aspect of her life. Her faith was evident not merely in what she professed, but in how she loved, served, forgave, and encouraged everyone around her.

Beyond her professional and church responsibilities, Jeroldine found joy in the simple blessings of life. She loved spending time in her yard, nurturing flowers and enjoying the beauty of God's creation. Gifted with a remarkable eye for design, she delighted indecorating and rearranging her home, creating warm, welcoming spaces where family and friends always felt loved.

She also possessed a beautiful appreciation for thoughtful gestures. Long before text messages and social media, Jeroldine faithfully expressed her gratitude through handwritten thank-you cards and heartfelt letters. Those simple acts reflected the sincerity of her heart and her genuine appreciation for others.

Nothing, however, brought her greater joy than her family.

Family gatherings were among her greatest treasures. Whether sharing meals, celebrating holidays, or simply enjoying each other's company, Jeroldine embraced every opportunity to bring loved ones together. Affectionately known as the family's storyteller, she had an extraordinary gift for turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories. Her impeccable timing, infectious laughter, and humorous storytelling could fill an entire room with joy. Her smile brought comfort, her wisdom offered direction, and her laughter became a treasured soundtrack to countless family memories.

Jeroldine was admired for her honesty, loyalty, and respected for her unwavering integrity. She never hesitated to speak truth in love when she believed it would help someone she cared about. Through both her words and her example, she instilled within her children and grandchildren the enduring values of faith, perseverance, respect, compassion, and hard work.

On Friday, July 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and sustained by the promises of her Savior, Deaconess Jeroldine Bradham McGee peacefully transitioned from labor to reward. Though our hearts grieve her earthly absence, we rejoice in the blessed assurance that she now rests safely in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served throughout her life.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving sons, Roscoe Dickey, Delwyn Dickey, and Chad Fryson-Bennett; her special nephew, Dexter Bradham (Lesa); her devoted son-in-law, Lansing Jones; her cherished daughter-in-law, Renee Lemonier- Bennett; her beloved grandchildren Angela Nathan, Latasha Long (Amos), Avery Bennett, Renai Dickey, Reshai Dickey, Shauntae Dickey, Brandon Scott, Bradley Dickey, Antonio Moore; her treasured great-grandchildren Amilya Johnson, Khari Dickey, Zion Wynn, DeAnthony Moore, Sir John Stephens, Ameer Long, and Phillip Brown Jr.; her brothers Tom Johnson, Jr. and Ralph Johnson; her sister Beaulah Johnson; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, devoted friends, and all whose lives were enriched by her remarkable example of faith and love. The family alsoextends heartfelt appreciation to her devoted caregiver, Dorinda Boswell, whose compassionate care and faithful companionship were a tremendous blessing.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lamar McGee; her parents, Tom Johnson, Sr. and Ollie Lou Bradham; her stepmother, Melissa Johnson; her daughters, Angela Dickey-Jones and Nevely Dickey-Nathan; her grandson, Delwyn Dickey, Jr.; and her sisters, Martha Bradham and Sara Sutton.

While her voice has grown silent and her earthly work is complete, the impact of her life continues to resonate through every heart she touched. Her unwavering faith, compassionate spirit, quiet strength, and unconditional love remain a lasting testimony to a life beautifully lived and faithfully surrendered to God.

Today, we celebrate not only the years she lived, but the legacy she leaves behind. We rejoice knowing that she has heard the Master's gentle invitation:

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." (Matthew 25:23)

Though she is absent from our sight, Deaconess Jeroldine Bradham McGee will forever remain present in our hearts, her memory serving as a beacon of faith, hope, love, and grace for generations to come.
