Jessie James Peacock
DECEMBER 22, 1934 – JULY 23, 2025

Born on December 22, 1934, Jessie James Peacock was the early Christmas blessing presented to Darbine James Peacock and Kathleen Savage Peacock, as well as the rest of the family. He grew up with his siblings in the County Camp Road community better known as "The Big Valley" in Madison, Florida. He was a lifelong resident of this area.

Jessie accepted Christ as his Savior during his early years. He was a member of Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church of Madison where he also was a member of the Board of Trustees.

Jessie was educated in the Madison County Public School System. He later enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country and achieved the rank of Specialist 4th Class (E-4). At the completion of his tour of duty, he was honorably discharged at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina. Jessie returned to Madison where he began his career as a highly skilled auto mechanic at John Cherry's Service Station. Years later, he was employed at Coleburn's Tire and Body Shop. He was well known and highly respected by his customers because of his reputation for identifying and repairing their vehicles' issues with accuracy. Jessie was also a "no-nonsense" school bus driver who also loved looking out for his young passengers as he safely transported them to their destinations.

Jessie felt at peace outdoors because he enjoyed being in the fresh air and sunshine. He loved spending his time working on small jobs or pastime activities that kept him busy all day, every day. However, during his leisure moments, he felt exhilarated watching automotive race cars as well as watching and cheering his favorite football and baseball teams on to victory. Some of his other memorable enjoyments included his dining in at O'Neal's Country Buffet and having his 90th birthday celebration at Hooter's.

Jessie was the loving and caring patriarch, brother, uncle, daddy, cousin, caregiver, and friend to all. He unconditionally loved his family and would help them or anyone else at any time - whenever and in whatever way he could.

Jessie James Peacock had blessed peace with his Lord so near. He had a little talk with Jesus and knew everything was all right. On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, in a moment, and in the twinkling of an eye, he quietly transitioned from labor to rest eternally with the Lord.

Loved ones who celebrate the life Jessie James Peacock lived and the love he shared are his wife of 53 years: Beatrice Wyche Peacock; daughter: Angela Peterson (Jonathan Peterkin) of Wheatley, NY; sister: Cora Peacock (Jerome) Wyche; sisters-in-law: Barbara H. Peacock and Carlena Wyche Murphy; brother-in-law: Carlton Wyche; granddaughter: Alexis (Quanta) Barfield of Little Rock, AK; loved ones cared for as his own: Elijah Davis, Michael Peacock, Sandra K. Jackson, Jean Peacock Whidbee, Joseph L. Peacock, Mae Catherine Peacock Bend, and Pamela Johnson; great-grandsons: Anthony Barfield and Andrew Barfield; loving caregivers: Diane Jones and Eddie Kimmons; along with many other sorrowing nieces, nephews, and other mournful relatives; consoling friends, and comforting church family.

Loved ones who preceded Jessie James Peacock in death were his parents: Darbine James Peacock, Sr. and Kathleen Savage Peacock; son: Anthony Peterson; brothers: Tal Peacock, Sr., Darbine Peacock, Jr., Ulysses Howard, Joseph Peacock, and Willie Peacock; sister: Mary Moore; nephew loved as his own: Todd Peacock; granddaughter: Alisha Peterson; and mentee cared for as his own: Sidney Siplin.
