Mr. John Barfield
May 27, 1955 – October 24, 2024
"To Be Absent from the Body and to Be Present with the Lord." ~ 2 Corinthians 5:8
Mr. John Barfield began the first chapter of his life journey with his twin brother Paul on May 27, 1955, in Madison, Florida. Their mother, Corine Barfield, along with their village of supporters, worked together to ensure that they and their siblings were respectful, faithful, loving, and kind. John was a lifelong resident of Madison, Florida.
John received in faith what Jesus offered in grace. Earlier in his life, while he was under the pastoral leadership of the Reverend J.W. Joseph, he confessed his belief, was baptized by faith, and became a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
Educated in the Madison County School District, John was a member of the Madison High School graduating class of 1975, where he and Paul were one of three sets of twin brothers. Shortly after graduation, he pursued a career at Dixie Packers where he rose to the position as lineman. He retired after more than 20 years of dedicated service.
John and Paul were connected from birth as mutual best friends. They were always together or expected to be. Oftentimes their names were reversed by those getting to know them, but they always took it in stride and made the correction.
John always treated others the way he wanted to be treated. He was kind-hearted, quiet natured, and generous in sharing. He has left this sustaining memory and forever love in the hearts of his beloved family and his circle of friends.
Death is the last chapter in earthly time but the first chapter in eternity. John Barfield's new and promising chapter in eternal life began on Thursday, October 24, 2024. "A chapter ended; a page turned. A life well lived; a rest well earned."
Holding close to their hearts John Barfield's everlasting memories that bind them together as family are his beloved twin brother: Paul Barfield of Madison, FL; loving sisters: Vivian Barfield and Fontina Barfield, both of Orlando, FL and Mary Barfield Gallon of Madison, FL; a very special cousin: Geraldine Johnson Fudge of Madison, FL; devoted friends: Larry and Phyllis Brinson Solomon of Madison, FL; many sorrowing nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as countless other sympathetic relatives and caring friends.
Reuniting with his loved ones who preceded John Barfield in death were his beloved mother: Corine Barfield; brothers: Oscar McDonald and Johnnie Taylor; and sisters: Yvonne Barfield and Yvette Feacher.
