"Wes"

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of these things has passed away." ~Revelation 21:4

John Wesley Brown, born on February 16, 1944, in Haines City, Florida, was the son of George Willie Brown and Jimmie Mae Copeland Brown. He was affectionately called "Wes" by family and friends. During his younger days, he relocated to Madison, Florida, and remained there as a resident for the rest of his life.

A man of faith, Wes joined Damascus Missionary Baptist Church. It was his desire to be trained to become a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord.

During his employment, Wes worked for E. M. Watkins Construction Company at the Buckeye Cellulose Corporation of Perry, Florida. This operation, identified as "The Mill," was the lifeblood of their community, as well as that of many other surrounding counties. Wes demonstrated a strong work ethic which earned him the crew leader position for his shift.

During his retirement years, Wes was able to spend relaxing hours fishing from the banks of his favorite fishing holes and/or casting his rod and reel in his preferred lake or pond. He was usually proud of his daily catch.

Another pastime favorite Wes enjoyed was talking on his CB radio to truckers on the road or to other CB radio friends who tuned in. Beginning with "Breaker, breaker" and agreeing with a "Big 10-4", and often warning unsuspecting drivers that "Smoky"/" Smoky Bear" with his or her flashing "bubble gum machine" was up ahead.

However, in a moment and in the twinkling of an eye, John Wesley Brown transitioned from earthly labor to receive his heavenly reward in the early morning hour on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

As loved ones reflect the life, love, and legacy of John Wesley Brown, they create countless memories to pass along for generations to come.
