John Adam Moore, Sr.
1946 – 2023
"If I Can Help Somebody as I Pass Along, Then My Living Shall Not Be in Vain"

John Adam Moore, Sr. was fourth of the nine children born to Adam and Annie Mae Epkins Moore in Madison, Florida. His arrival on November 16, 1946, was a joyous time for the family, but it was very special for his father who was born on the same date, only 30 years earlier. John Adam, also known as Adam, was a lifetime resident of Madison, Florida.

Loved ones who preceded Adam in death were both of his parents; and many of his siblings: Ernest Moore, Marie Moore Richardson, Moses Moore, Dorothy Moore Butler, Betty Elizabeth Moore Evans, and infant David Williams; as well as his bonus daughter: Lesa Johnson.

Adam accepted Christ as his personal Savior under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend James C. Miller and became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He was faithful in his attendance for Sunday School, Worship Service, along with Wednesday night Prayer meeting and Bible Study. He was also a member of the Scholarship Fund Club during its existence. He later began a ministry of visiting the sick and shut-ins in the nursing home and in the hospital as well as at the homes of others.

Adam's educational experience began at Madison County Training School which was later renamed Suwannee River High School. Before he graduated in the Class of 1968, he played football and sang in the chorus (even though he could barely carry a note). He later enrolled at North Florida Junior College (currently North Florida College) and earned his Associate of Arts (AA) degree. He furthered his educational experience at The Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) where he majored in Physical Education. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree as he worked full time on the night shift at Gold Kist Poultry Plant in Live Oak, Florida. Adam was employed by the Hamilton County School District until his health-related retirement.

The earthly life of John Adam Moore, Sr. concluded quietly on Monday, June 19, 2023, and a new more promising one began when he entered eternal rest in the presence of the Lord. "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Celebrating the life of John Adam Moore, Sr. is the truest testimony of the impact he made on the lives of others. Forever cherishing his life, love, legacy, and memories are his son: John Adam Moore III; granddaughter: Jakira Ashley Moore; grandson: John Adam Moore IV; bonus grandchildren: Denyce (Michael) Mobley, Deidre (Jaquinte) Haynes, Dennis Johnson, Dereal Alexander, Jr. and Alphonso Johnson; great grandson: Jamir Ford; siblings: Ralph (Jennie) Collins of Boston, MA, Willie Williams and Minister Annie (Raleigh) Barfield, all of Madison, FL; nieces and nephews: Kevin, Kimberleah, Marcus, Angela, Mike, Douglas, Shawn, Tanya, Charlotte, Ralphie, Fayon, Kamecia, Amber, Jennifer, Laysha, Tasha, Raleigh, Tonya, Brian, Temicko, Derrick, Aaron, Ren, Desi, Nikki, and Constance; devoted niece: Evelyn Butler; great nieces and great nephews; daughter-in-love: Wanda Miller; devoted friends: Coach John Brown and Elder Leroy James; the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Family; along with a host of other sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
