Obituary

“Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me…”

There are some lives that quietly become hymns of hope for everyone they touch. The life of Josephine Bellamy Mann was one such melody — a song of grace, compassion, resilience, and unwavering love. Much like the timeless words of Amazing Grace, her journey reflected redemption, strength through trials, and the beauty of God’s sustaining hand.

On November 1, 1965, Josephine Bellamy Mann was born into the world to Pelot Bellamy and Geneva Jones Smith, bringing with her a radiant spirit that would one day comfort, nurture, and inspire so many. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her brother: James Jones; and other dear loved ones who welcomed her into eternal peace. Though their earthly presence departed before her, the love and cherished memories they shared remained a guiding light and source of strength throughout her life’s journey.

Her life became a testimony of service and compassion, marked by her gentle heart and sincere love for people. Affectionately known to many as “Jo,” she possessed a calming presence and a caring nature that made others feel seen, valued, and loved.

As a devoted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Josephine dedicated her professional life to caring for others. Nursing was more than an occupation for her — it was a ministry of kindness. She served with patience, tenderness, and dignity, offering comfort during moments when it was needed most. Her healing hands and encouraging words became a source of reassurance for countless families and patients throughout her years of service.

“Amazing grace, how precious did that grace appear…”

Josephine understood the value of faith, family, and perseverance. Through life’s joys and challenges, she remained steadfast, leaning upon God’s grace to guide her path. Her smile could brighten the darkest room, and her loving spirit left an unforgettable imprint upon the hearts of all who knew her.

She cherished her family deeply and found joy in simply being present for those she loved. Whether through a heartfelt conversation, a thoughtful gesture, or her unwavering support, Josephine gave of herself freely and wholeheartedly. Her life reflected grace in action — humble, beautiful, and enduring.

Though her earthly journey came to a peaceful close on Thursday, May 7, 2026, the melody of her life continues to echo in the hearts of those she leaves behind. While tears may fill our eyes, we rejoice in knowing that grace carried her safely home.’

“Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come…”
