Larry Ray Moore
"Sporty Moe"
1956 – 2023
"The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want." -Psalm 23:1
On March 28, 1956, Larry Ray Moore came into the world as the very special blessing of Arthur Ray Moore and Pearlie Mae Moore. He, along with his other siblings, all grew up under the watchful eyes of their village – parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, teachers, and many other concerned adults. Affectionately known as "Sporty Moe", Larry was a lifelong resident of Madison, Florida.
Preceding Larry in death were both parents, his brother: Lawrence Moore; and sisters: Patricia Brown Roberts, Susan Moore Young, and Chiquita Moore.
Accepting Christ as his Savior and becoming a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church as well as acquiring his education prepared Larry for other successes in life.
Because Larry was taught the importance of having a work ethic, he was accustomed to being employed. He had a variety of work experiences, ranging from farm work to his employment at ITT - Metal Products, Gold Kist (Pilgrim's Pride), and HVAC (Heating and Air Conditioning). In addition to his being very dependable, he was also very efficient in doing home repairs; he was regarded as a "jack of all trades" and the need for his skills was always in demand.
Just as Sporty Moe was reliable in completing what he started, he was also counted on to be the "life of the party. He loved to dance and was a joy to be around. On the other hand, he also enjoyed leisurely fishing, hunting, and cooking (his catch or kill of the day), and other delicious foods.
On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, after a brief illness, Larry Ray Moore yielded to a greater will than his own. He was released from suffering, departed this earthly life, and transitioned to his eternal home where he will join the heavenly host in praising the Lord.
Larry Ray Moore has a special place in everyone's heart that no one else can fill. Cherishing his life, love, and special memories are his daughter: Chatori Moore of Panama City, FL; brother: Calvin (Erica) Moore of Fayetteville, NC; sisters: Juanita Johnson of St. Petersburg, FL, Margie Moore of Madison, FL, Joyce (Walter) Graham of Valdosta, GA, Wanda (Ricky) Pearson of Madison, FL, Rosetta (Gary) Griffin of Perry, FL, and Shamon Moore of Madison, FL; brother-in-law: Tommie Young of Madison, FL; aunts: Ann Moore, Ruby Moore, and Jessie Moore, all of Greenville, NC, and Dorothy Moore of New Haven, CT; uncles: Clarence Brown of Duluth, GA, George Moore and Curt (Etha) Moore, both of Greenville, NC; special cousin: Willie (Linda) McFarland, of Madison, FL; special friends: Robert Montgomery, Cora Johnson, and Archie Wilson, Sr. all of Madison, FL; along with many other sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins, and compassionate friends.
