Obituary

"May the works I've done speak for me. When I'm resting in my grave,
there is nothing to be said;
May the works that I've done, Speak for me."

On March 6, 1952, William Alexander, Sr. and Nellie Mae Williams Alexander proudly welcomed their only daughter, Mary Martha Alexander, to join the family with her older brothers. She was a lifelong resident of Madison, FL. Her parents; her husband of 21 years: Dennis Dixon; her brother: Willie Alexander; and her grandson: Lawrence "L J" Franklin III all preceded her in death.

Mrs. Mary Martha Alexander Dixon loved the Lord and accepted Him as her Redeemer early in her life. She worshipped at Pineland Missionary Baptist Church but later joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Mary honored the Lord and expressed her praise in song and dance. She was a faithful choir member and dedicated praise team dancer.

Mary Martha loved her family and enjoyed the memorable times they spent together. She always added an extra unconditional loving touch to remind her children and grandchildren that they were very special to her.

Mary Martha Dixon was a hard worker who, after nearly 30 years of dedicated service, retired from the Madison County School District as a cafeteria worker. She looked forward to preparing the meals and serving them to the students and staff members each day.

With the extra time she had during retirement, Mary was able to do things she really loved to do - work in her garden and be more health conscious about food choices and exercise, especially speed walking. She also loved being a caregiver, for she was compassionate, helpful, dependable, and concerned for others' well-being.

Mary Martha also loved listening to music and dancing. Because she was very sociable, Mary was expected to be "the life of the party". Her love of dancing earned her the title "Ms. Dance All Night".

On September 30, 2021, Mary Martha Alexander Dixon's life ended unexpectedly but peacefully. She fulfilled her promise to serve the Lord with gladness and has relocated to her heavenly home where she can serve Him forever.

Cherishing the legacy of a well-lived life are her children: Terrence Franklin of McDonough, GA. Lawrence (Janay) Franklin, II of Jasper, FL, and Shalonda Dixon of Madison, FL; brothers: William (Ursula) Alexander, Jr. of Denton, TX, John Wayne (Linda) Alexander, Sr. of Gainesville, FL, and John Leon Alexander of Madison, FL; grandchildren: Desja Smiley, Towrence Franklin, and Tyrese Franklin, all of Madison, FL; Lawrecia Franklin of Valdosta, GA, and Demonte Franklin of Live Oak, FL; greatgrandchildren: Kamron Folsom, Lamarion Folsom, and Kamarion Folsom, all of Valdosta, GA; numerous other sorrowing relatives and loving friends
