"Clyde"
"Farther along we'll know all about it Farther along we'll understand why Cheer up my brother live in the sunshine We'll understand it all by and by."
Mary McLeod Williams affectionally called "Clyde", was born April 30, 1951 to Mary L. Williams Andrews. She was a lifelong resident of Madison, Florida. Mary McLeod was preceded in death by her sons: Ricardo Aikens and Travis Walters; her mother: her brothers: Tommie Lee Alexander and Calvin Alexander, and her sister: Margaret Williams.
Growing up as the second oldest daughter at home, Clyde learned the importance of being responsible. She assisted her mom with the household duties, as well as taking care of her younger siblings. This work ethic remained a part of her in her own home, as well as in the workplace. She was employed at Gold Kist Poultry for nearly 25 years.
Clyde accepted Christ, as her Savior, early in her life and grew closer to Him by faith. Until her health failed, she was an active member who was dedicated in her service and attendance of Greater Community Church.
Clyde loved her family and the times they spent together. However, her grandchildren really stole her heart. It was during these gatherings that Clyde's excellence in cooking was applauded. Her greens, dressing, roasts, macaroni and cheese were always requested.
Despite the long hours of hard work, Clyde always had time to enjoy some of the things she loved to do. She loved to walk and she really loved the times that she and her sister Vera spent talking. She also enjoyed watching The Young and The Restless.
Clyde's life and living were not in vain because she touched many lives in such a positive way. She departed this earth on Saturday, September 18, 2021, to live in her forever home for all eternity.
Cherishing her love and honoring her memory are her sons: Robert Aikens and Broderick Cooks both of Atlanta, GA, and Isaac Cooks, Jr., of Madison, FL; daughter: Kimberly Aikens of Madison, FL; great-aunts: Lear Tiller of Madison, FL, Velma Gaston and Juanita Williams, both of Detroit, MI; great-great aunt: Berta Williams of Madison, FL; brothers: Napoleon (Vivian) Williams of Hampton, GA, and Curtis Alexander of Madison, FL; sisters: Alice (Victor) Oladokum of Washington, D.C., Paris (Marcus) Jones of Greenville, FL; Vera Williams, Rosa Williams, and Jacqueline Williams, all of Madison, FL; 12 grandchildren; along with a host of other sorrowing relative and loving friends.
