Mother Birda Dasher Williams
"Alberta"
March 22, 1929 - March 2, 2024
"I Have Come This Far by Faith, Leaning on the Lord"
Mother Birda Alberta Dasher Williams, affectionately known as "Alberta" and the older daughter of Cane Dasher and Mary Eliza Honeywell, was born on March 22, 1929, in Madison, Florida. She was a lifelong resident in the rural community of Pinetta, Florida, the area where she grew up.
Preceding Mother Birda in death were both parents; her husband of 55 years, George Williams, Sr. and sons: George Williams, Jr., Leroy Williams and Joe Oscar Williams; daughters: Deloise Williams Pryor and Susan Williams; grandson: Joseph Lawrence Wilkins; and her sister: Lucille Peek.
During her early years, Mother Alberta confessed her belief that Jesus Christ was her Savior. Following her baptism, she joined High Antioch African Methodist Episcopal Church. During her active years, she fulfilled duties on the Steward and Stewardess Boards. She remained a member of this church her entire life. Having developed a personal relationship with Him, she gratefully received by faith what God offered in grace.
Mother Alberta learned from her village of supporters that she should have personal pride in whatever she attempted to do. They emphasized the importance of having integrity, working hard, finishing what she started, and giving her best effort. She, in turn, passed this same work ethic on to her children and the younger generations who always saw her being busy in her yard or garden or doing household chores.
With the help of the Lord, Mother Birda quilted the pieces of the four generations of the Williams family life together with values, wisdom, and guidance to shape their individual lives. As the family matriarch, Mother Alberta's house was the "go to" place that was always open to them for small casual visits to extended family gatherings for hosting barbecues, holiday meals, as well as for celebrating achievements, birthdays, or life itself. She loved to cook and whatever she prepared was food fit for a feast.
However, whenever, Mother Birda settled down from her busy day, she watched her favorite television shows from the past: The Andy Griffith Show, wrestling, and most definitely, westerns ( Gun Smoke, The Big Valley, The Rifle Man, Rawhide, Wagon Train ) and Walker, Texas Ranger.
A mighty tree has fallen in the Williams family. However, with her soul anchored in the Lord, Matriarch Birda Dasher Williams bowed to a Greater will than her own on Saturday, March 2, 2024. She transitioned from this life to join the heavenly host, and is now somewhere around the throne of God, praising Him all day long.
A life lived with love is an inspiration to all. Mother Birda Dasher Williams is gone from their sight but never from the hearts of her loved ones. Those who will forever cherish her life, love, laughter, and legacy are her son: Thomas (Bernice) Williams of Madison, FL; daughters: Emmalene Pickett of Pinetta, FL, Marian (Calvin) Johnson of Live Oak, FL, Janice (Samuel) Damanze of Tampa, FL, and Sandra Pearl (Edward) Rowe of Madison, FL; niece: Yvonne Peek Johnson of Tallahassee, FL; twenty-three grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; along with countless other sorrowing relatives and sympathetic friends.
