IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mother Lorine
Jonas Quinn
August 7, 1928 – August 28, 2022
"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies." -Proverb 31:10
On August 7, 1928. Mother Lorine Jonas Quinn became one of seven sisters and seven brothers born to Tom Jonas and Mae Merrick Jonas in Lake Butler, Florida. She met and married Lee Quinn, and in 1955 they relocated to Baltimore Maryland. Their son, Herman, came into their lives later on. Preceding her in passing were her husband; both parents; and siblings, Enoch Jonas, Vasco Jonas, Obediah Jonas, Tommy Jonas, Charlie Jonas, Rommie Jonas, George Jonas, Milane Williams, Louise Marshall, Amonia Williams, Rosa Fudge, and Lula Mae Scott.
Mother Quinn loved serving the Lord with gladness. She was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, where she was dedicated in her twenty-five years of service as an usher. She also was a member of the Blue Light Social Club, whose mission was preparing dinners to serve to persons within the community; they also occasionally traveled to Montreal, Canada.
Her major work experiences, until her retirement, were at a local dry cleaners, Bugle Laundry Factory, Baltimore Gas, and Electric Company. In 1993, she returned to Lake Butler to live closer to her family. After a few years, she settled down among other relatives in Madison, Florida. Mother Quinn was a member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church. She also became actively involved with the Senior Citizens of Madison, where she enjoyed the fellowship and the activities that were planned.
Mother Quinn was family oriented and loved sharing family memories. By far, her favorite topics were always about her mother, whom she spoke of with fondness. Mother Quinn had a heart of gold, but during her golden years, she would sometimes get a little rough around the edges. Health issues prevented her from living independently and being able to cook her "more than enough" favorite soul food meals to share with whoever would stop by. She maintained her sharp memory, however, and freely spoke her mind, especially if someone broke their promise to her.
During her lifetime, Queen Quinn had a variety of pastime favorite activities. She thoroughly enjoyed listening to her gospel favorite, Lee Williams, or watching her all time television favorites: Gun Smoke, The Big Valley, Walker, Texas Ranger, Tyler Perry's Madea movies, Jerry Springer. She also loved watching her favorite soap operas from the past: The Secret Storm and The Edge of Night.
Servant of God, well done! On Sunday, August 28, 2022, Mother Lorine Jonas Quinn transitioned to her eternal home, where she received her heavenly crown. The battle's fought and the race is won!
Cherishing the forever memories of her well-lived life are: her son, Herman Jackson of Baltimore, Maryland; a sister, Maebelle Webb of Lake Butler, FL; caregiver: Shirley (Curtis) Mattair of Madison, FL; sister-in-law, Essie Mae Jonas, of Madison, FL; along with many other sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
