"Pokey"
"Yea, Though I Walk Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I Will Fear No Evil, For Thou Art With Me" ~Psalm 23:4
Nekole Lunett Livingston Bennett, the beloved daughter of James Lee Livingston and Beulah Mae Arnold Livingston, was born on May 2, 1972, in Thomasville, Georgia. Affectionately known as "Pokey," she was reared by her parents and was nurtured by her village of extended family members in her Greenville, Florida community. She resided in this area for most of her life.
The most important decisions Nekole made early in life included her professing her belief in Jesus Christ as her Savior and being baptized by faith. She then chose Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Greenville for her lifelong membership.
Nekole achieved her high school diploma from Madison County High School in the Class of 1990. For proper care of her patients, she earned her certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A.). She was gainfully employed at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for many years.
Nekole was warm and loving. Not only did she make those around her feel at ease, but she was also connected with the residents on her job and anybody else she encountered.
Nekole truly loved her family. She also loved the memorable times they shared – visiting during the holidays, checking on each other, or calling to share the high points of each other's day. She was also the typical loving grandmother who was available to spend quality time with her grandchildren and to spoil them as much as possible.
Nekole found many pleasures in life. She enjoyed cooking; her meals were always delicious, but her family all agreed that her potato salad was the absolute best and definitely her claim to fame. At the end of her busy day, however, she enjoyed settling down to read an enjoyable book.
Then, as often as she could, Nekole made cruise plans for the tropical paradise in the Caribbean. She especially enjoyed the atmosphere created on cruise ships for family, fellowship, food, and fun (and of course, lots of dancing).
On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, God freed Nekole Lunett Livingston Bennett of her pain and suffering. "The storms kept on raging in my life, but I kept my eyes on the distant shore." She gently closed her eyes and transitioned to her eternal rest, safe in the arms of the Lord.
Holding close to their hearts are forever memories of Nekole Lunett Livingston Bennett.
