Obituary

Palma Donohue died peacefully on September 12, 2022, at 91. Palma is survived by her only son, Thomas Sean Donohue (Shannon Peabody), sister Rose Tarquinio, and grandchildren, Thomas Simon, Mary Eleanor, and Sofia Julia. She is predeceased by her father, Anthony Figliola (Sicily), and her mother, Elvira Magiogia (Rome, Italy) who emigrated to New York City in the 1910s, and her husband, Thomas J. Donohue. A first-generation immigrant, Palma Figliola was born on February 25, 1931, in New York City's Lower East Side. A lifelong aesthete, she acted in plays, modeled, and worked as a theater costume designer.

She married Thomas J. Donohue, in 1963, and moved to Rockland County, New York to raise her family. Palma's greatest joy was being a mother to her son, Thomas Sean, and enjoyed traveling with her family.

She continued her love of the fine arts through her paintings and drawings which the family have to this day. She spent this time as a homemaker, florist, retail window designer, and baker.  She retired to southeastern North Carolina in a home that she loved. Palma was always the 'Italian mother' and loved cooking and entertaining family and friends for many holidays, special events, and Christmas, where great memories were shared. Palma was happiest when she was doing for others.

"Mom, thank you so very much for everything that you did for me, I miss you and love you forever." Your son, Thomas Sean
