IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Prince
Jones
August 8, 1927 – January 29, 2022
Mr. Prince Jones
1927 – 2022
Some glad morning, when this life is over, I'll fly away...
to the land where joy shall never end, I'll fly away.
Prince Jones was born on August 8, 1927, to Squire Jones and Willie McGee. He grew up in a large and loving family in the Sirmans community of Madison County, Florida.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Lily Mae, Bessie Lee, Curtis, Lucy, Fannie Lou, Channie, Squire "Buddy", Rich, Ella J., Roosevelt, Ernest, Frank and Katherine. He was also preceded in death by his son Dwayne Williams, and his daughters, Carly Jones, Linda Dianne Smith and Ann Adams.
Determined to make his family proud, Prince Jones relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, his home for the next 50 years, as well as the place where he learned a trade. His strong work ethic enabled him to succeed in providing for his family. He never settled for the path of least resistance, for he was among the first Blacks to integrate Boston Unions and to be accepted into two - the Laborers Union and the Roofing Union. He worked his way up the ranks and earned the respect and friendship of his fellow union members.
Prince made and kept many life-long friends, from all walks of life, from childhood to the grave. They were all dear to him, as he was to them. He truly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved to cook, and you could not enter our home without being offered food and drink.
Listening to jazz music, especially Miles Davis, was another pastime favorite of his as well as playing cards and Dominoes. Boxing was his favorite sport, and he had a passion for classic cars, most notably his green iconic 1970 Ford Mustang Fastback.
Prince Jones lived life to its fullest. His final days were spent at home listening to jazz and receiving visitors. At the age of 94 and as the last surviving child of Squire Jones and Willie McGee, he peacefully departed this life on January 29, 2022. Life's race, well run; life's battle, well won!
Loving memories of Prince Jones will linger on long after his footprints in the sands are gone. Cherishing these precious memories are his devoted wife of 50 years, Jane Jones; children: Daniel Jones and Tasia Jones; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and countless other sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
