LIFE STORY FOR
ENLISTMENT: JUNE 10, 1962 – HONORABLE DISCHARGE: JANUARY 3, 2021

ROBERT JAMES EDWARDS, JR., was born to Robert James Edwards, Sr. and Bobbie Jean Johnson Edwards. ROBERT lived in Madison until he graduated from Madison High School in 1980. Shortly after his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army to honorably serve his country. In 1983, he completed his tour of duty and with the rank of PV1. ROBERT was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Jean Johnson Edwards.

Opting not to return to Madison to live after his exit from the military, ROBERT relocated to Jacksonville, Florida and resided there for 36 years. There he merged his strong work ethic with his desire to own his own business by establishing the R. J. Edwards Company, a successful handyman enterprise.

ROBERT especially enjoyed family time and had special love for children. Those who spent time with him could remember his engaging smile, loud hearty laughter, and the fun times he provided. To power down at the end of a busy day and work week, Robert enjoyed perfecting his talent of artistic drawing.

Mournfully, ROBERT expiration of service (ETS) concluded on Sunday, January 3, 2021. He exchanged his battle clothes for a robe of glory and entered into eternal rest.

Among those who will forever cherish his memory are his children: Michael Edwards of Daytona Beach, FL; Lagarrius (Shakira) Robinson of Orlando, FL; Cherai Henderson of Suitland, MD and Jerrietha Jackson of Dallas, TX ; siblings: Sheila "Annette" Edwards of Leonardtown, MD; Joseph (Kathy Trickey) Edwards of Douglasville, GA; Bobby "Oogie" Edwards of Dallas, TX; James Edwards of Sparta, GA; Sarah (Ruffin) Rhodes of Orlando, FL; Ella Edwards and Denise Quick, both of Madison, FL; Corrine (Michael) Felix of Tampa, FL; eight grandchildren; and countless other loving relatives and sorrowing friends.
