IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Jean
Hayes

Life Story
"If I can help somebody, as I pass along the way, then my living shall not be in vain"
Shirley Jean Lyles Hayes was born May 16, 1953, in Jacksonville, FL, to Willie Mae Lyles and John D. Lyles. She was preceded in death by both parents, four of her siblings: John D. Lyles, Jr., Frank Lyles, Lamar Lyles, and Virginia Green; and her son: Tyrone Hayes.
Shirley attended East Jacksonville Elementary School and graduated from Matthew W. Gilbert High School. After her formal education, she prepared herself for her career as a nurse assistant and/or caregiver. She worked faithfully at several nursing homes facilities before her final employment at Magic Guest House where she lived-in and lovingly cared for her patients.
Having accepting Christ earlier in her life, Shirley became a member of International Bible Way Apostolic Christian Assembly.
Shirley was a woman of great strength. She was lovingly protective of her family and worked very hard to provide for them.
She enjoyed giving everyone a nickname that others used as well. Likewise, Shirley's grandchildren affectionately began calling her was "Shebby", a name the entire family use as well.
Shebby also acquired another name that was uniquely birthed out of her generosity in helping others who were less fortunate. She was the "lady with the golden heart". Shirley loved to cook, and she loved to see others enjoying the meals she prepared. Therefore, she began her own food ministry to provide hot meals to countless individuals around the city. On many occasions, she also gave someone a place to stay, and a few dollars, if she had it to spare. This ministry was most rewarding and fulfilling because it came directly from her compassionate heart.
While Shirley thoroughly enjoyed doing for others, she also enjoyed taking time out for herself. She loved shopping for home furnishings because she loved to decorate. Likewise, she also enjoyed shopping to keep in step with "dress to the nines" fashions. These shopping sprees invigorated her to do greater things.
God saw that Shirley Jean Lyles Hayes was getting tired, so on Thursday, March 31, 2022, He called her from labor to reward - to join the caravan of saints and for her to go to the land where joy shall never end.
When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. Keepers of Shirley's cherished memories are her children: Michael Hayes, Ammeco Alexander, Shirley Brown-Bevel, Nathaniel Campbell, and Charles Gillette; grandchildren: Kameron Moseley, Shawn Uzzell, Timothy Alexander, Brandon bevel, Jr., Jaidon Bevel, Mehkaila Alexander, Kaylan Bevel, Jazmyn Campbell, Janae Campbell, Jade Campbell; siblings; Carrie Mae Dempsey, Queenell Henderson, Larry Lyles, Leroy Lyles; devoted friend: Betty Jacobs; a host of sorrowful relatives, loving friends, and neighbors.
