IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stanley George
"Horse” Simmons
October 17, 1956 – October 25, 2021
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no
evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me!" – Psalm 23:4
Stanley George Simmons, the adorable baby boy of F.J. Simmons and Alice Moore Simmons, was welcomed into the Simmons family on October 17, 1956. He was a lifelong resident of Madison, FL. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Earline Tensley; siblings: Tommie Mitchell, Willie Moore, Marty Roberts Simmons, Lora Lee Richardson, and (most recently) Freddie James Simmons.
Having grown up in the Georgetown community, Stanley George was best known as "Horse", the nickname he was given early in his life. He loved his family but had a special bond with his grandchildren. He was a people person who enjoyed trash talking and spending time with his buddies at Sarah Ellen store. During his spare time, he also enjoyed fishing.
Horse received his education in the Madison County School District. He often reflected with fondness his experiences at school and on the Madison High School "Cougar" football team.
Early in his life, Horse accepted Christ as his redeemer and became a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church. His faith and love for the Lord grew daily.
Horse was a working man and a family provider who developed his work ethic early in life, specifically from his tobacco field experience. For nearly 30 years of his career was at Dixie Packers meat processing plant, Gold Kist poultry plant, and finally, at Superior Trees nursery. There had been occasions when he had transportation problems, but instead of missing work, he walked from Madison to his job in Lee, FL.
Stanley Simmons' body had begun to get tired. Therefore, on Monday, October 25, 2021, he closed his loving eyes and fell into eternal sleep, transitioning from this earthly life to live forever with his heavenly Father.
Loved ones who will forever cherish his life, legacy, and loving memory are his son: James Edwards of Madison; daughters: Sandy Stephens of Panama City, FL, Kenyata Boatman (Dwayne) and Latara Simmons, all of Madison, FL; brothers: J.W. Simmons and Ray Charles Simmons, both of Madison, FL, Ricky Simmons (Tonja) of Daytona Beach, FL; sisters: Mary Alice Robinson of Clearwater, FL and Toney Hampton (Paul), of Madison, FL; sister-in-law: Patricia Tensley of Cairo, GA; special niece: Dana Davis of Madison, FL; grandchildren: nine; great grandchildren: seven; god daughters: Yolanda Feacher and Nijeria Allen; friends at Sarah Ellen Store; many other sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
