Jamarien "J.P." Moore
President | Mortician
Jamarien Purcell Moore
~J.P. Moore~
Mortician | Minister of Music | Entrepreneur
Known for his passionate love of singing, his rigorous work ethic, and his caring heart of pure gold, Jamarien Purcell “J.P.” Moore is the epitome of what one can accomplish through faith, hard work, and perseverance. He was born in Tallahassee, Florida, to Ms. Amy Jonas on March 11, 1992. Jamarien is the protective older brother of his sister, Asia.
Jamarien looked forward to attending church services with his family during his early years of living in Madison, Florida. When he was old enough, he eagerly joined the youth choir, and joined in with many other community gospel groups for programs. He was introduced to youth activities and leadership opportunities of the Young People’s & Children’s Division (YPD) of the African Methodist Episcopal Church (A.M.E.C.) when his second grade teacher and first YPD director, Ms. Katrina Aikens, recognized the talent he possessed. She took him to Jacksonville, Florida, to audition for “Showtime at the Apollo”. Based on his stage presence before a live audience and the judges’ critiques, Jamarien’s singing was recognized as a gift from God.
Jamarien and his family relocated to Orlando, Florida, when he was a fourth grader. They became members of New Bethel A.M.E. Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend David L. Connelly. Years later, a part of Gods’ divine plan; Bishop McKinley Young appointed Reverend (now Presiding Elder) Henry L. Postell, II to New Bethel AME Church; having observed the motivation Jamarien, then 10 years old, had for becoming a funeral director and the potential that possessed, Elder Postell elected to mentor him and to be Jamarien’s first boss at Postell’s Mortuary. Several years later, Jamarien volunteered to help with the chorus at Robinswood Middle School, but immediately afterwards, he would faithfully walk to Postell’s to begin learning how to use his God-given call on his career as a funeral director.
Jamarien graduated from West Orange High School in 2010. He received his Associate of Science degree in Mortuary Science in 2013 from Florida State College at Jacksonville, and his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Organizational Management from Edward Waters College (recently named University) in 2017. In addition to his educational experience there, Jamarien was elected to represent the institution as Mr. Edward Waters College as well as becoming a member of his beloved Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Jamarien has held leadership roles during various aspects of his life. He was elected for positions on the local, area, and conference (CCYPD) levels, most notably as the YPD President of the “Electrifying” Eleventh Episcopal District of the AMEC representing Florida and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas Islands. He is also a former member of the AMEC General Board. As for his career involvement, he is a member of District 4 of the Florida Mortician Association, Sergeant-At-Arms of the Florida Morticians Association, the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, and a member as well as the former chairman of the 40 and Under Funeral Directors of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association. Earlier this year, he was recognized as “Small Business of the Year” by the National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association 40 & Under Funeral Directors. He is also a member of the Madison County Lions Club. Jamarien was a finalist during Season 5 for BET’s “Sunday Best”. He is currently the Minister of Music for Bethel AME Church in Tallahassee, Florida.
Great is thy faithfulness. God has enabled Jamarien to fulfill his dream of becoming a licensed funeral director and to own his own business. He is the owner and founder of J.P. Moore Mortuary and Cremation Services in Madison, FL, the General Manager of Williams Funeral Home in Quincy, FL, and a Licensed Funeral Director at Postell’s Mortuary. Jamarien uses his faith in God as his strength, and the inspiration from his late grandmother Mabelene Lee Phillips to always acknowledge God and “to lean not to thy own understanding, but in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy path.”
A Man of God, a Pillar of Faith, and a Leader of God’s people, Jamarien P. Moore continues to exemplify Galatians 6:9, “And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Jamarien P. Moore is one who believes in making a change, by being the change in the community and beyond.
